Easy Rider

The drivers fierce look with hair swept straight back are betrayed by the riders relaxed demeanor and hair barely rustled by a slight breeze.

Beautiful Boy

After speaking with his Father, I learned this precious little boy was adopted in South Dakota. I asked if I could take a pic and his proud Father said "Sure".

You're not welcome here...

Glaring look from this dude...

These guys looked cool.

But they seemed to fall a lot.

Props for their workout.

Cool Guy

The more I looked at this guy, the more I liked his style.

Naomi

I first met Naomi sleeping one morning last fall in a small park in Charleston. After I had been shooting for a few minutes at the park, she emerged from under a pile of blankets on a park bench. We talked for a while before she went on her way. Today, while I was standing on this corner, she happened by and she remembered me from the park. I was so happy to see that she looked well and was in good spirits. She talked quite a bit about living on the streets in Charleston. She said she had been sleeping at the homeless shelter at night.
These two college students appeared and asked her for an interview. They wanted her to define a few terms as best she could. One was "What is globalization". I have to say she did very well with the interview and I think the students were quite surprised. It's hard for me to imagine a life on the streets.

This doggy had slipped out to the street and this fellow came to his rescue and returned him to a very thankful lady.

Charleston Historic Glass and Mirror Restoration

Front room of the shop on King Street

There are lots of interesting items to look at here.

Bob reflects on his craftwork over the years.

Cleaning and restoring a pane of glass that will be placed in a restored building.

On my way out of the shop, I noticed the reflection in this mirror.

This poor fellow looked downhearted as he called his friend for help.

When I came back by later, his friend had arrived, but it looked hopeless.

Personal Space

Sometimes the camera is not appreciated. The subject may feel it invades their personal space, even if I'm in a coffee shop, looking out the window from my table at the Francis Marion Hotel.
Paintings 4 Sale

While browsing this window display of paintings on King Street, I was approached by this memorable fellow. He asked if I was interested in the paintings and explaineed that he was renting the window space to a local artists.  He also gave me a short history about the importance of the architecture along the street.

Street Musicians

These street performers were very good. They were energetic and drew quite a crowd. The people were generous and the musicians were very happy to receive the money. The appearance of their tattered and unwashed clothing made me wonder if they truly live on the street. In the past few years, homeless people have become more prominent in Charleston.
Body Language

The distance between the two people is accentuated by the Palm tree trunk.

Style

Some people have style and they often wear sunglasses.
I could almost hear Mick Jagger singing in the background.
